ANTI WRINKLE INJECTIONS

Anti-wrinkle injections are made of a naturally, purified protein and neurotoxin. The discovery of the toxin’s anti-wrinkle effects were first documented in 1989 by a plastic surgeon, named Dr Clark in California. Anti-wrinkle injections help to relax certain wrinkle-causing muscles to produce a younger and fresher appearance. They inhibit the transmission of neurotransmitters from nerve to muscle and stop the muscle from contracting and forming a wrinkle. Our injections won’t leave your face with that frozen in time look, but something much more natural that you can be proud to share.

As your skin matures, the effects from frowning, squinting and the movement of our muscles from facial expressions cause folds and creases to form. WHO PERFORMS THE TREATMENT?

As the product that we use for our anti-wrinkle injections is a Schedule 4 medication, our specially trained Cosmetic Nurses and Doctors perform all cosmetic injectable treatments. The proper medically trained staff should only ever provide anti-wrinkle injections or dermal fillers because expert training is required to do these properly so they look as natural as possible.

WHAT ARE THE RISKS?

Anti-wrinkle injections have been used for a long time with no reports of long-term side effects. Sometimes a small bruise may appear at the injection point, or there may be some temporary redness and swelling that usually does not last longer than an hour. Other, less common side effects from anti-wrinkle injections include asymmetrical results, failure to cause significant change (usually due to under-treating), puffy eyes and drooping of the corners of the mouth. Patients cannot have anti-wrinkle injections if they are pregnant or breastfeeding.

WHAT IS THE ALTERNATIVE TREATMENT TO ANTI-WRINKLE INJECTIONS?

Anti-wrinkle injections do not create the same result as a surgical face, eye or brow lift, which may be the best option for some patients. They do however delay the time in which surgical intervention is the best option. The key to remaining young is to work on these subtle irregularities once they happen; anti-wrinkle injections will help you ease these early signs and allow you to avoid surgery as long as possible. Dermal fillers are another option you can look into should you have severe volume loss and require facial contouring as an added bonus. Ask your physician if dermal fillers are right for you.

HOW LONG DO ANTI-WRINKLE INJECTIONS LAST?

The effects of anti-wrinkle injections vary slightly from patient to patient but last between three and six months. The more frequently a patient has treatment, the longer the patient will benefit from the effects due to progressive weakening of the muscle. If at any time the patient ceases treatment, the muscle and wrinkle will return to its previous state and wrinkles will not get worse.

IS IT PAINFUL?

Most people describe the sensation of the injection as a ‘bee sting.’ The needle that we use is tiny and only enters the skin very superficially. For some patients we do offer a topical anesthetic to make sure there isn’t any discomfort during the injection process; your comfort is factored into what we choose to offer here at Main Street Cosmetic & Skin.

WILL I SEE THE EFFECTS IMMEDIATELY AFTER TREATMENT?

It usually takes anywhere between two days and two weeks to see the effects of the anti-wrinkle injection once treated. These injections provide wonderful results for our clients as they work deeper to the skin to help you address every cause of your premature ageing signs.

WHAT ANTI-WRINKLE INJECTIONS DON’T DO:

Anti-wrinkles injections do not replace lost volume, in other words, they do not plump or re-volumise the skin. To plump or re-volumise the skin, dermal fillers are an effective treatment. Dermal fillers are often confused with anti-wrinkle injections, but best anti-ageing results are achieved when the two are used in conjunction with each other. Ask your physician or cosmetic nurse if a combination of anti-wrinkle injections and dermal fillers would be right for your particular skin concerns.
